Kenya - Friends of Ngong Road - Day 1 - 3-10-12

The first day in Nairobi was an eye opener to be sure. After traveling through the modern Schipol Airport in Amsterdam, Saturday morning included visiting the homes of four current Ngong Road students. And a stop into see a recent graduate too. Fitting some six to ten family members into homes roughly 20 by 20 feet in size without running water or sewage, often without electricity showed how different a slum could be from what I was accustomed to seeing experiencing in the U.S. The afternoon was filled with Ngong Road's Saturday Program, a great place to see many of the students enjoy song, games and each other. They held a series of performances, of which the best would go onto the next Saturday's Grand Union event.
