2-3-17 25K Speedskating on Lake Mde Maka Ska (aka Lake Calhoun)

The Loppet Festival weekend got its start with the 25K speed skating race on a chilly but beautifully clear late Friday afternoon. The Lake ice was more than 16 inches thick, but that didn't stop one from hearing the erie Star Wars like waffling of the ice beneath one's feet, only to be interrupted by the razor sharp scalping of racers as they pace around the 1K track.
